Re: STARLINGS
Most of my visiting Sturklets are now self supporting. Mum and Dad have given them the slip and they're on their own.
Re: STARLINGS
Still have some adult starlings here taking away food. New batch of fledglings on their way no doubt.
Re: STARLINGS
Got a new batch of fledglings, and food still being taken away. Could be a good season for starlings.
Re: STARLINGS
Same here, new fledglings being fed by parents, and food being taken away! How many broods they are going to have this year?

That's it for this year and they don't always have two broods.

Re: STARLINGS

I see few of young starlings with those trademark spotty feathers, isn't it a bit early for changing feathers?

Re: STARLINGS
For the earliest of the fledglings I think it is just about time for the first moult. It is a slow process but the start of September should see it complete.
Re: STARLINGS
This morning in the covered feeder, a pair of starlings feeding three fledglings. And another adult took away a beakfull of mealworms. Its not over yet.
