Your Garden Hedgehogs
Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
Hi Jacksparrow. I throw down a mix of dried mealworms and spikes semi moist food. Keeps them busy and it is natural to them foraging.
Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
Hi Willpar - yes, the egg yolks get eaten every night - I put two dishes out now across the grass from each other and have on occasion refilled them.
I have stopped putting out a whole egg for the fox as it/they seemed to be just moving it around the garden and leaving it a bit too long in the heat but will probably resume that anon.
I have seen hedgehogs at both dishes so I know they are getting most, if not all of it. The fox usually stops by much later
The hedgies and fox also eat peanuts and sometimes sunflower hearts and the hedgie eats raisins, which are in separate dishes.
I don't really want to put anything out that cats will readily eat, which I used to a few years ago.
I like the sound of that Spike's Semi-Moist food to scatter about

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
My hedgies' supper consists of: soaked dried mealworms with an egg yolk centred in the dish. Clean every morning
(we don't have a "tasty" smilie).
Right - here's the 'yummy' one then :

Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
Saw a hedgie a bit bigger than medium size eating egg yolk in the dish near the window last night
Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
The little un was along the hedge tonight when I went up there. put some food down and went back later with some more. First lot was all gone.
Re: Your Garden Hedgehogs
Thanks nuthatch.
Got a nice little video from last night. Puts it into perspective just how small the juvenile is compared to the mature adult. Mind you the adult is big. Is my most regular who often rest up in one of the feeders. Pity the little one don't turn up a bit earlier as I could weigh it and give it a dab.

Got this one the other night. I thought I had put it up here but don't see it.
Little and large. Puts it into perspective just how small the little un is. But the larger one is quite large, and one of my regulars.
