Your Garden Hedgehogs

Seen two last night in the garden. Water is always important JS.

At about 10 this morning I glanced out of the kitchen window and saw a half grown Hog walking very shakily across my front lawn and into the flower bed. This called for further investigation. I grabbed the leather gloves and went and collected it and took it to the back of the house where it was cooler and in the shade. I put it in a cardboard box just in case it came round and tried to wander. For half an hour there was no movement though I sensed it was still alive. Water and a little food was added to the box and about 15 minutes later it attempted to get out of the box but it was too wobbly on it's feet. It then found the water and proceeded to lap up for nearly 15 minutes. In the mean time I had called the local wildlife hospital who told me to take it in. After it had stopped drinking I boxed it up and took it to hospital. I was advised to ring in about 48 hours for an update. I was also asked if I would take it back for release if/when it recovers. I said yes and look forward to doing so.

The wildlife hospital emailed me today to say the hog was starting to recover but asked me to hold off with any further enquiries for 4 weeks.
