Too early - wouldn't expect them until May

Gosh and I were on Prees Heath on Tuesday - no butterflies but the bird song was fabulous and there were quite a few with beaks of nesting material.

No Brimstones spotted yet but 2 spiralling dark butterflies outside my daughters today - I think peacocks but couldn't get a good look as was nap trapped by new grandchild

So not so much what I saw but what I heard.

This is a video of a fox but I'd like some help to ID the owl call which doesn't sound like the usual Tawny owls I hear in the garden, It's brief so I've repeated it several times.

I don't think thats an Owl - I have a feeling it's fox chatter - they ...

Had to lop a branch of a Crab Apple and saw this discolouration in the centre - went and cleared and checked the base and found this fungal growth - Can't decide if it's terminal or not

It's not just the predation of honey bees that is the issue - they will hawk the hives that cause the bees to become stressed and they divert to trying to protect the hive which can lead to colony collapse due to starvation, bacterial or viral infection etc.

It appears here in Germany they are all down south were the climate is warmer but not up here in cool Hamburg or Schleswig - Holstein; only a case or two thank Heavens!!!

They will be slowly making their way up as they are a highly successful insect. It has been seen that European Hornet ...
